PART 4 – CONCLUSION *** BOWIE’S ILLNESS AND DEATH: In 2014, Bowie was diagnosed with liver cancer. He had been diagnosed 18 months earlier, but kept it private. Bowie died in his New York City apt. on 10 Jan. 2016, at 69. The Director, Ivo Van Hove, who had worked with Bowie on his off-broadway musical ‘Lazarus,’ explained that he was unable to attend rehearsals due to the progression of the disease. He noted that Bowie had kept working during the illness. He had insisted that he did not want a funeral, and according to his death certificate he was cremated in New Jersey. As he wished, his ashes were scattered in a Buddhist ceremony in Bali, Indonesia. OTHERS’ QUOTES: JOHN LENNON (RE GLAM ROCK): “WELL, IT’S JUST ROCK AND ROLL WITH LIPSTICK ON.” TONY VICONTI : “He always did what he wanted to do, and he wanted to do it his way, and the best way. He made ‘Blackstar’ for us, his parting gift… He Was An Extraordinary Man Full of Love and Life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry.” __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So, with fond memories I will leave you with these words of just a few of his countless devoted fans: CARLOS: "David was A SUPERNATURAL FORCE OF NATURE.” DogDen: “David was so far ahead of his time that humanity will never catch up…” JOHN: “David built his career on keeping one foot in the future. Bowie was so far out there. He is still the most distant object from Earth." THINICE: "Don't believe for just one second I'm forgettin' you." REST IN PEACE BEAUTIFUL STARMAN. *** (Excerpted in part from Wikipedia).
